Branding

"Sierra was so awesome and created a logo for me that was better than I could have imagined! She really stuck with my vision and brought it to life, and the color scheme is amazing also! So happy!"

- Madi Waner

Coastal Brewing Co. is a specialty coffee importer from Costa Rica.

While they exclusively sell coffee beans right now, they wanted a logo and brand identity that wouldn’t limit them should the choose to expand their product selection in the future.

After creating a moodboard, I found they preferred a more minimal & feminine brand style. Their one request was that Costa Rica was somehow incorporated into the design.

My Creative Process

Step 1: Moodboard

Before every logo or branding project, I help my clients create a mood board of logos, colors, or images that they are attracted to. Below were some of the inspiration images she shared with me.

I find that some clients already have a bit of an idea of what they want in their head, but have a hard time explaining it or bringing it to reality. I love when my clients send me sketches of ideas they’re toying with. Sometimes we end up drawing inspiration from them, and sometimes we don’t. In her case, even though the sketches were very rough, they were enough for me to know exactly what she would like.

I love when clients bring their own sketches!

Step 2: Logo Pathways

After we've gathered our inspo, and we both have an idea of the "vibe" we're going for, I create your logo pathways. These are different concepts and directions we can take. With this project, I already had a pretty clear understanding of what she wanted so all these variations were fairly similar.

Step 3: Draft Revisions

Most clients fall in love instantly with one of the options I provide them, but sometimes we do one more draft if necessary to adjust some minor details. For this particular project, she instantly fell in love and didn't need any changes.

Step 4: File Handoff & Brand Style Guide

Once we've finalized our decision, I provide all of your logos in several format and color variations to ensure it is versatile for any background or location. I also created several stickers and alternative logos or icons that could be used as part of the brand identity, and put it all together in a Brand Style Guide so that everything you create in the future can have the same look and feel!

Conversations like this are the reason I love my job!
